Abstract

  1. In February 2023 there was Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation of 7.34 per cent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 117.21. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Kotabaru at 7.88 per cent with a CPI of 120.04 and the lowest in Waingapu at 3.57 per cent with a CPI of 112.74.
  2. Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indices, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 8.52 per cent; clothing and footwear group by 1.12 per cent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 3.36 per cent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 1.13 per cent; health group by 2.07 per cent; transportation group by 19.40 per cent; recreation, sports and culture group by 3.60 per cent; education group by 4.78 per cent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group by 10.26 per cent; and personal care and other services group by 6.08 per cent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index were the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.98 per cent.
  3. Month to Month (m-to-m) deflation rate of 0.26 per cent and Year to Date (y-to-d) inflation rate of 1.45 per cent.
  4. The Energy component y-on-y inflation rate was 11.65 per cent and the Food component y-on-y inflation rate was 7.46 per cent.
