Abstract

In February 2023 there was Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation of 4.92 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.20. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Kotabaru at 7.88 percent with a CPI of 120.04 and the lowest occurred in Waingapu at 3.57 percent with a CPI of 112.74.

Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in 10 expenditure group indices, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 4.70 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.32 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 5.11 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 2.53 percent; health group by 1.18 percent; transportation group by 11.44 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 1.48 percent; education group by 0.04 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group by 4.03 percent; and personal care and other services group by 7.00 percent. In contrast, the information, communication, and financial services group experienced a decrease in the index of 0.31 per cent.

The Month to Month (m-to-m) deflation rate for February 2023 was 0.31 per cent and the Year to Date (y-to-d) deflation rate for February 2023 was 0.40 per cent.

The y-on-y inflation rate of the Energy component in February 2023 was 15.75 per cent and the y-on-y inflation rate of the Food component in February 2023 was 3.12 per cent.
