Abstract

  • In August 2022, Pangkalpinang City experienced a 1.20 percent deflation with a CPI of 111.52. Of the 90 CPI cities in Indonesia, 11 cities experienced inflation and 79 cities experienced deflation. The highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 1.65 percent with a CPI of 115.34 and the lowest was in Depok and Kediri at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 113.29 and 111.01, respectively.
  • Deflation was caused by the decline in indexes in 4 expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco by 2.31 percent; health group by 0.02 percent; transportation group by 3.61 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.18 percent. On the other hand, expenditure groups that experienced inflation were: clothing and footwear by 0.43 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel groups by 0.49 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.03 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.13 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, the equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group and the education group did not experience changes in the index.

  • The inflation rate for the calendar year August 2022 is 4.07 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2022 versus August 2021) is 6.87 percent
  • The energy group in August 2022 experienced inflation of 0.71 percent with a CPI of 107.72. The foodstuff component experienced deflation of 3.16 percent with a CPI of 117.84
