Abstract

  • In November 2019 there was a deflation of 0.82 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 144.39.
  • Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by the decrease in the expenditure group index, namely in the foodstuffs group of 2.93 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.10 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the index were processed foods, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco by 0.09 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.04 percent; clothing group by 0,10 percent; the health group by 0.03 percent and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.01 percent.
  • The calendar year inflation rate (January – November) 2019 is 1.92 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (November 2019 against November 2018) is 3.83 percent.
  • The price component regulated by the government experienced deflation of 0.06 percent, the volatile component experienced deflation of 1.75 percent and the core component experienced deflation of 0.72 percent.
  • Out of 82 CPI cities, 57 cities experienced inflation and 25 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manado by 3.30 percent with CPI of 140.99 and the lowest of 0.01 percent occurred in Malang with CPI of 136.92. While the highest deflation occurred in Tanjungpandan (Belitung) by 1.06 percent with CPI of 146.21 and the lowest in Batam and Denpasar by 0.01 percent.
