Abstract

In May 2018 the city of Pangkalpinang experienced deflation of 0.99 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 137.93.
Deflation occurs due to a decrease in the price indicated by the decline of some group indices expenditures, ie: foodstuffs by 0.77 percent; clothing by 0.02 percent; as well as groups transportation, communications and financial services by 5.21 percent.While the expenditure group experienced an increase index is the group of finished foods, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco by 0.07 percent; housing groups, water, electricity and fuel by 0.01 percent; group health by 0.52 percent; as well as education groups recreation, and sports by 0.01 percent.The inflation rate for the calendar year of May 2018 was 0.72 percent and year-on-year inflation rate (May 2018 to May 2017) of 2.31 percent.
The core component in May 2018 experienced inflation of 0.24 percent; a turbulent component of deflation of 1.46 percent; and the government-set deflationary component of 3.97 percent.
