In October 2020, Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 0.45 percent with a CPI of 105.10. Of the 90 CPI cities, 66 cities experienced inflation and 24 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 1.04 percent with the CPI at 104.43 and the lowest occurred in DKI Jakarta, Cirebon, Bekasi, and Jember at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari at 1.81 percent with a CPI of 105.12 and the lowest occurred in Surabaya at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 104.03.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in some of the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.30 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.05 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.27 percent; health group of 0.16 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.13 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.17 percent; and personal care and other services group of 0.02 percent. Some of the other expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely the housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group at 0.17 percent; the transportation group of 0.22 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group of 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, the education group did not change.
The inflation rate for the calendar year for October 2020 is 0.63 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2020 against October 2019) is 1.06 percent.
The energy group in October 2020 experienced deflation of 0.25 percent with a CPI of 100.14. Meanwhile, the foodstuff component in October 2020 experienced inflation of 1.60 percent with a CPI of 104.21.
