City of Pangkalpinang, in July 2020 inflation amounted to 0.06 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 103.10. Out of 90 CPI cities, 29 cities corrected the deficit and 61 cities corrected deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Timika by 1.45 percent with CPI 106.95 and the lowest occurred in Banyuwangi and Jember by 0.01 percent with CPI 103.50 and 104.77 respectively. While the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari by 1.09 percent with CPI 107.21.
Inflation that occurred due to price increases incurred by rising indexes in several visiting groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.68 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.01 percent; household equipment, supplies and routine maintenance by 0.25 percent; health group of 0.02 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.01 percent; also the education group by 0.34 percent. While the groups experiencing deflation were housing, air, electricity and household fuel by 0.13 percent; transportation group by 0.42 percent; both the personal care group and other services by 2.05 percent. While the information, communication and financial groups and the food and beverage / restaurant groups do not require an index / stable change.
During the calendar year January-July 2020 there was inflation of 0.18 percent with year on year (July 2020 against July 2019) deflation of 0.57 percent.
The energy component in July 2020 experienced a deflation of 0.01 percent with the CPI 101.34 July 2020. While the food component this month increased by 0.83 percent with the CPI 101.81.
