- In March 2016 Tanjung Pandan experienced inflation of 1.22 percent in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) amounted to 127.63 after earlier in February 2016 which experienced inflation of 1.02 percent with CPI of 129.21.
- Deflation occurs due to a decrease in the price indicated by the decline in the index in four groups namely foodstuffs expenditure of 3.39 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.14 percent; education, recreation and sports by 0.01 percent; and transportation, communication and financial services by 0.37 percent. While the group experienced an increase in the index are: food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.05 per cent; and the clothing group by 0.03 percent. Health groups do not change the index.
- The inflation rate in March 2016 calendar year amounted to - 0.24 percent and the inflation rate year-on-year (March 2016 to March 2015) amounted to 3.27 percent.
- The core components in March 2016 contributed to deflation by 0.36; volatile components contributed to deflation of 0.76 pesen. Similarly, the component whose price is set by the government deflation of 0.10 percent.
